Meaning the batter edge has a more dramatic round over while the snare side gets a sharper radius. Rubber gaskets were removed from the lugs. A couple Ayotte toms came in for a haircut for Warren! Whenever I do these kind of modifications my goal is to make it look as factory as possible. I had to plug a few holes on the 10” in order to get it to the desired depth. Which is very tricky to do in order to make them invisible. I cut my own plugs out of the off cut piece of shell I had left over. I also made new reinforcement rings out of the off cuts and pressure fit them in place and profiled them the same way Ayotte did. Some steam bent walnut Summits came in for @estebanseunarine Not much to see here other than a beautiful set of drums. The over all build quality on this kit is hard to pick apart. Like anything I will always say the bearing edges need work. When these drums first showed up I was shocked to hear how bad they sounded. Basically anyway you tuned them they felt choked or lifeless. Luckily these drums were easy to work on and all that needed to be done to fix the tuning issue was to simply level and round over the edge. Next up was replacing all the soft rubber spacers that were needed to space the lugs off the bass drum shell. I replaced those with stainless steel spacers. You need solid connections on your lugs otherwise they will eventually snap or damage your shell. They may even cause your drum to sound a bit pitchy since it will struggle to actually hold tuning. Overall this is an amazing drum kit and it may even be one of the nicest set of drums I’ve had the pleasure of working on! Lil Sonor jungle kit for @shelby.booth Classic sharp edges are now rounded to allow this kit to open up and have more of a tuning range. Fitted with @evansdrumheads G2 coated top and bottom on the toms and a UV coated EMAD on the kick. Trying to make this kit sound bigger than it looks. I always find using 2 ply heads on both the batter and resonate side helps keep things sounding beefy. That’s just my opinion though. #sonordrums #drums #bearingedges #smallkitbigsound

Pork Pies for @timattwo By far the nicest Pork Pie I’ve seen to date. These birch/mahogany shells absolutely rip and the paint is 🤌🏻 The bearing edges were levelled and rounded in a few more plys in order to get the peak of the edge sitting where it should. This allows for a wider tuning range, longer head life and better stick rebound. At some point the rack tom was drilled out for a Ludwig atlas Tom/lug mount. Because of that when the stock lug went back on the drum the lug hole extended past the bottom of the lug. I cut a plug out of similar style shell and carefully flushed it out. Mixed some paint and got a pretty close colour match. I’ll agree it’s not 100% perfect but from 2 feet away it’s unnoticeable! #drums #porkpie #customdrums #bearingedges #drumlife

Big Black DW for @_kmd3 This drum came in and felt pretty choked out and lifeless. The edges were levelled and pretty consistent. The one issue is the peak of the edge wasn’t where it should be. In some case when edges aren’t sitting right it can create strange tension on the drum head causing it to feel “choked” in almost any tuning range. While these snare beds were shaped in way I like to see they were a bit too narrow. That causes issues with not having enough of an arch on the snare wires which lends itself to minimal options with wire tension and sensitivity. Having similar issues with your wood snares? In this case I needed to round the outer edge in for optimal tuning ranges and reshaped the snare beds for a bit more versatility and sensitivity. #drums #porkpie #customdrums #bearingedges #snarebeds
